The night before Jesus went to the cross, he modeled for his followers an important lesson on serving others. He took on the nature of a servant, washed their feet, and instructed them to do it for one another. When we do this, Jesus said, “We would be blessed.” But this kind of selfless service isn’t always easy. Indeed, it's often messy, inconvenient, and comes at a cost. Indeed, it is a two-way street meaning that receiving other people’s service is sometimes just as important as giving. Mother Teresa said, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” That is living generously.
